DIVE INTO A LIFESTYLE

Competitive lawn bowls is a precision sport played for the challenge, personal enjoyment and social interaction. It is also a low-impact, therapeutic form of exercise that can improve fitness, coordination and confidence.

The Team

The Alexandra Bowls club has been playing competitively for almost 100 years. Our teams play in four local leagues, giving opportunities to play at different standards. All our members are encouraged to play in these leagues, one of which was started especially to give new bowlers the opportunity to gain experience of competition games.

Apart from the chance to play in league matches, we offer all our members opportunities to play in friendly matches against other clubs and other informal games throughout the season. We offer free tuition by our Qualified and Accredited Coaches.

If you are interested in becoming a member and join our competitive team please complete the form below. We offer full coaching and support to new players.

We also play in an Essex County Group 6 league. Throughout our history (the club was founded in 1925) we have enjoyed success in local and County leagues.

Competition Update 2022

22nd July 2022

Tattersall Cup Win and Second place for Alexandra Bowls Club. The Tattersall Cup is a competition between 10 local bowls clubs, each of which is allowed to enter two teams. One of each club’s teams competes in a qualifying round and the winners and runners-up progress to the main competition with the other entries. This is the first time that both finalists have been from one club.

August 2022

Following our success in the Tattersall Cup, Nicky and Derek Reader won the two-wood pairs competition against stiff opposition the following week. This is another knockout competition in which each Parks Bowls Circle club is allowed to enter two teams. In a close fought final, Alexandra overcame Shoebury Park BC.
